So I am now at Ft. Bragg where I have served as the AS-3 in the DSTB for about a month and then took over 3rd PLT A Co. 2-508. I have been living the dream so far as a PL and it has been great. Of course there has been the hardships of soldier issues that have gone everywhere from health to addiction, but they all work hard to correct these issues. I have found that working with the men can be rewarding and a great learning experience. I only hope that when I eventually do leave the platoon, I leave them much better then I have found them. I hope that they have also learned from me and internalized some of the lessons that I am trying to bring to light. Well off for me to go work on my book report on Face of Battle by John Keegan. If anyone has any comments on the book feel free to send them.

I am living the dream right now as we speak. Well by living the dream I mean hanging out with 42 other men in close quarters doing meaningless details all day. There is nothing like being a recycle and being told everyday why you were a failure when all you know is its not the full truth or actually anywhere near the truth. The fact of the matter is Ranger School is a game of numbers and you can only control the first week or RAP week on your own. From there on out you are a part of a system that can only house so many parts as the weeks go by. Also with out recycles the RIs would have to do their job and teach the people within the platoons all of the small meaningless tasks that the recycles already know. Well the joys of life… more to come later when I am not watching Spain win the Euro!! PS the article that said Ranger school was the 2nd best place for leadership training behind the Trump Camp lied to the world…

Just thought that I would write a little note on my happiness that Heather is down visiting me. She just finished her first year of law school!! Only two more to go for her. Well we are at ABC playing on our Macs. She is surfing the web, while I work on my other site/book. Remember if you read this, your better off spending your time reading www.matthew778.com. I promise it is growing and will get much better.
